Jens Lekman - “If I Could Cry (It Would Feel Like This)”

The cool thing about Swedish indie popster Jens Lekman is his uncanny ability to create really beautiful atmospheres using unique arrangements.  He’s most comprabale to Sufjan Stevens in this respect, only slightly easier to listen to in terms of lyrical content.  This particular track is a great example; evidently his musical definition of crying is a grandiose orchestral B section, with sweeping strings echoing a sort of springtime feeling of being in love.  It’s almost a little too saccarhine — almost like something out of a 50’s movie — but that’s the intended idea, I believe, and I fall for it completely.

Clearly not a “club banger Friday” this week or whatever, but I figured the last Friday of ‘08 should be reflected upon with a sense of calm and relaxation.  Enjoy.
