I apparently listen to no popular music.

thedco:

Last.fm’s Top 10 tracks of 2008 are made up of:

1) Songs from Viva la Vida.
2) Songs from Oracular Spectacular.
3) That Katy Perry song. You know, that one.

I have heard, whether intentionally or not, these ten songs, a grand total of 0.5 times collectively. I say 0.5 only because there’s a possibility that the one MGMT song I’ve heard was on the list. Maybe.

I find this somewhat curious, only because for each of the artists in question, I only know one person that actively enjoys them. And none of them are the same people. And I know a lot of people with a lot of tastes.

So my question is, really, who the hell is actually listening to this stuff? Where are you? Are you all in the UK? Are you all married to Chris Martin? Explain.

1) I like the Kooks cover of “Violet Hill.”  That’s about it.

2) Oracular Spectacular is actually really good, if a little front-loaded.

3) I’m not really 100% on her.  She’s just a bit much for me — I feel like Kelly Clarkson does the same stuff but better (and without the whole “Look at me I’m sorta-bi-curious-ish” thing to rope in the dude demographic).
