Of Montreal - “Don’t Ask Me to Explain”
Everybody knows Of Montreal’s brand of electro-dance, synthpop music. But what most people don’t know is that at one point in time they were an fairly good indie rock band with really good pop sensibilities. That place and time was Athens, Georgia around 1997. Their debut album, Cherry Peel shows little sign of what was to come from this band. Don’t get me wrong… it isn’t straight up, three minute pop ditties but it is enjoyable which is more than can be said for some of their later work. — Dave Koen
Very Weezy
I vehemently disagree (I think Hissing Fauna is a fucking brilliant record), but I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for old Of Montreal.
